Please read these terms carefully before using LINGUAE

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using Linguae ("the Application"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Application.

2. Description of Service

Linguae is a desktop application that provides AI-powered document translation services. Key features include:

  • Offline Translation: All translation processing occurs locally on your device
  • Document Support: PDF, DOCX, PPTX, XLSX, and other formats
  • Privacy-First: Your documents are never uploaded to our servers
  • Multiple Languages: Support for numerous language pairs

3. License Tiers

3.1 Free Tier

  • 20 documents per month
  • 5 MB maximum file size
  • Standard translation engine (Marian MT)
  • Community support

3.2 Pro Tier ($9.99/month)

  • Unlimited documents
  • 50 MB maximum file size
  • Standard + Premium translation engines
  • Glossary and Translation Memory features
  • Email support

3.3 Enterprise Tier ($99/month)

  • Unlimited documents
  • 200 MB maximum file size
  • All translation engines including custom models
  • API access
  • Priority support

4. User Obligations

By using Linguae, you agree to:

  • Use the Application only for lawful purposes
  • Not attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Application
  • Not circumvent any license restrictions or usage limits
  • Not use the Application to translate illegal, harmful, or malicious content
  • Maintain the confidentiality of your license key
  • Not share, sell, or transfer your license to third parties

5. Intellectual Property

5.1 Application Ownership

Linguae and all associated intellectual property rights are owned by Yanis Aksas. The Application is licensed, not sold.

5.2 Your Content

You retain all rights to your documents and translations. Linguae does not claim any ownership over content you process through the Application.

5.3 Open Source Components

Linguae uses open-source machine translation models including:

6. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE APPLICATION IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND.

  • Translation Quality: AI-generated translations may contain errors. Linguae does not guarantee translation accuracy.
  • Professional Use: Users are responsible for verifying translations for professional, legal, or medical purposes.
  • No Guarantee: We do not warrant that the Application will be error-free or uninterrupted.

7. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW:

  • Linguae shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
  • Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for the Application in the 12 months preceding the claim
  • We are not responsible for losses resulting from translation errors or inaccuracies

8. Payment and Refunds

8.1 Billing

  • Subscriptions are billed monthly or annually through Stripe
  • Prices are subject to change with 30 days notice

8.2 Refunds

  • Refunds are handled according to Stripe's standard policies
  • We may offer refunds at our discretion for technical issues
  • No refunds for partial months of service

9. Termination

9.1 By You

You may stop using Linguae at any time. Cancel your subscription through the Application settings.

9.2 By Us

We may suspend or terminate your access if you:

  • Violate these Terms
  • Engage in fraudulent activity
  • Abuse the service

10. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms at any time. Changes will be:

  • Posted on our website
  • Notified through the Application
  • Effective 30 days after posting (or immediately for legal requirements)

Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of new Terms.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Quebec, Canada. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Montreal, Quebec.
